reference for how I envision the surface of the Magpie...

I found this picture of a sculpture by David harbour, it caught my eye as it is vert similar at the top to the photographs i have been taking. i would very much like to create this effect for the surface of the magpie or another possibel piece, it is just highly polished steel, but you require diamond paste and alot of time for such a good finish.
I dont like the subject of form of the sculpture but i do like the combination of surface texture, i was considering oxidizing the surface of my tree, but i think ill  see how it looks without it first.
